Arsenal restored their five-point cushion at the summit of the Premier League table after defeating Chelsea 2-1 on Sunday evening.
The Gunners were aware that Manchester City had narrowed the gap to two points following a 1-0 win over Leeds United on Saturday.
Mikel Arteta’s side struck first against Chelsea, with William Saliba’s header deflecting in off Mamadou Sarr. However, the Blues drew level before halftime through a Piero Hincapie own goal.
Jurrien Timber later headed home the decisive goal, lifting Arsenal to 64 points with nine matches remaining in the season.
