A member of the House of Representatives representing Aba North/Aba South Federal Constituency, Mascot Ikwechegh, has resigned from the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA).
Ikwechegh conveyed his decision in a letter addressed to the APGA Ward Chairman of Eziama Ward 1 in Aba North Local Government Area on Saturday.
In the letter, he expressed gratitude to the party for the platform to serve and wished it well in its future endeavours. However, he did not disclose his next political destination.
His resignation comes just days after all Local Government executives and ward officials of APGA in Aba North and Aba South stepped down collectively.

With his exit, APGA has now lost its last remaining lawmaker from Abia State, following the departure of Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe in December 2025.
Reacting to the development, the Abia State Chairman of APGA, Sunday Onukwubiri, told newsmen that his office had not been formally notified of the resignation.
He maintained that the party remains strong and would not lose sleep over any individual’s departure.
“It is bad that people throw away the ladder they used in climbing up to prominence, but I can assure you that APGA will remain stronger and more united in Abia,” Onukwubiri said.
